In order to be allowed to download the Penny Arcade Podcast, you must first be a member of Penny Arcade Supreme; which includes everyone instantaneously.
The content of the podcast consists primarily of creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins talking until a comic idea is decided upon. The initial podcast garnered enough interest that they decided to continue releasing roughly once a week.
Recently, an RSS feed was created to place all the Podcasts onto a simple list.
April 26, 2006 was missed as the writing block was apparently "apocalyptic", and so was released on May 1, 2006, albeit about the comic brought out on April 28, 2006.
On May 3, 2006, Jerry announced that the podcast schedule was no longer working, but they still plan on releasing new podcasts every so often.
On October 2, 2006, both Jerry and Mike re-introduced the podcast, as they had managed to buy new equipment to make such a thing possible.
The podcast for the comic of October 20, 2006 featured Scott Kurtz, author of rival comic PvP, who was visiting Seattle.
Since the last podcast, "Lookouts", Penny Arcade has since been approached by Two Player Productions to do a live show, which they later followed up on with Penny Arcade: The Series, along with PATV. This format now replaces the audio-only podcast, and currently updates every Friday.
